Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that the interim government failed to implement the promises made in six months. He also commented that it is time to start criticizing the government's activities.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by Nagorik Oikya in Mirpur, the capital, on Saturday (August 22) to demand resolution of the electricity, gas and energy crisis and reduction in commodity prices.

Government failed to move in six months: Manna

Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that six months have passed. Now everyone will talk and criticize the government's activities. The six-month 'honeymoon period' cannot continue for six years.

He said that a child starts crawling in six months. But if the government cannot move even in six months, how will it pass five years? He also raised the question.

Criticism of government for resolving power crisis

Regarding the power crisis, Manna said that although the government promised to resolve the power crisis within seven days, it could not resolve the problem even in two months. One problem after another is arising, but no effective solution is visible.

He urged the government to provide a clear outline to resolve the power and energy crisis. Otherwise, he also commented that the marks in the evaluation of the government's activities will continue to decrease.

Development does not mean just big establishments

Criticizing the government's development activities, the president of Nagorik Oikya said that development does not mean just building big buildings or establishments. The main goal of development should be to create employment for people and eliminate poverty.

He said that it is not possible to eliminate poverty in a day. However, effective initiatives can be started for this.

Question on the promise of one crore jobs

Manna said that the 31-point outline talks about employment for one crore people by 2031. But he questioned whether even one person has been employed in six months.

In his words, if promises are not implemented after being made, the rationality of these statements is questioned.

Manna also raised questions about democracy

The president of Nagorik Oikya also raised the question of whether real democracy has been established in the country after the mass uprising.

He said that just having the opportunity to speak is not the full manifestation of democracy. He also raised questions about the freedom of the media and the political environment.

Call to stop bribery and corruption

Manna proposed to install solar panels at the government's expense in every house to deal with the electricity crisis. At the same time, he called for an end to bribery and corruption from top to bottom in the government.

He also commented that corruption cannot continue without ensuring that the basic needs of the people are met.

Manna spoke about a new type of leadership

In the meeting, Mahmudur Rahman Manna announced a six-member coordination committee to manage the party's activities in the greater Mirpur area.

He said that a new type of party and leadership is needed to run the country. Nagorik Oikya wants to establish itself as a party that will work to reorganize the country.
