Bay of Bengal in turmoil due to deep depression, heavy rains forecast across the country The monsoon depression formed in the northwest Bay of Bengal has strengthened and turned into a deep depression. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the impact of this natural disaster has created the possibility of light to moderate and heavy to very heavy rainfall across the country. Due to the turbulent situation prevailing in the Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas, four seaports of the country have been asked to display local warning signal number 3. The weather bulletin said that the deep depression is moving north and northwest and is in the process of crossing the West Bengal and North Odisha coasts.
Due to the influence of active monsoon winds, rain or thundershowers with temporary gusts or squally winds may occur in most places of Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and in many places of Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh. There is a fear that similar hostile weather will continue in the main divisions of the country in the next few days. Due to rough seas, all types of fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal have been advised to quickly move to safe shelters and remain on the coast until further orders. However, during this time, the day temperature will remain almost unchanged across the country and there is a possibility of a slight decrease in the night temperature. In the current situation, the wind intensity may increase relatively more in the coastal districts of the country including Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong. The Meteorological Department has urged the public and vessels to exercise maximum caution to deal with the emerging situation.
