Myanmar must take responsibility for permanent solution to Rohingya crisis: Law Minister

Referring the Rohingya crisis as an internal problem of Myanmar, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman said that in addition to ensuring the human rights of the Rohingya, Myanmar must take effective initiatives to permanently resolve the crisis.
He said these things while delivering a speech at a seminar titled ‘Rohingya Crisis: Current Reality and Future Actions’ on Sunday (August 23).
Rohingya Crisis Myanmar’s Internal Problem
The Law Minister said that the Rohingya crisis is essentially an internal crisis of Myanmar. However, Bangladesh has given shelter to the Rohingyas from humanitarian considerations and is looking at the issue seriously to protect their human rights.
He said, ‘The Rohingya crisis is an internal crisis of Myanmar. However, the Bangladesh government has looked at the issue from a humanitarian perspective. The government has given shelter to the Rohingyas in Bangladesh from humanitarian considerations.’
Protecting the territorial integrity of Bangladesh is important
Md. Asaduzzaman said that protecting the territorial integrity of Bangladesh is very important. At the same time, utmost importance is being given to ensuring that no human rights violations occur in the Rohingya issue.
The Law Minister also said that the Rohingyas are not Bangladeshis, nor are they a population of this territory. However, their rights and security need to be considered from a humanitarian perspective.
People's support for the government's steps on the Rohingya issue
The Law Minister also commented that there is public support for the steps taken by the government to deal with the Rohingya crisis.
He said that the kind of steps the government wants to take on the Rohingya issue has public support. Along with the humanitarian perspective, the country's interests and security must also be given importance in dealing with the crisis.
Myanmar's responsibility for a permanent solution
The Law Minister called on Myanmar to take effective steps for a long-term and permanent solution to the Rohingya crisis.
He said that Myanmar must take responsibility for this crisis and take necessary measures to ensure the human rights of its citizens. Myanmar also needs to play an effective role in creating an environment for the safe and dignified repatriation of the Rohingya.
