India's Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has withdrawn its threat of a fresh agitation after receiving assurances from the government of complete security and legal protection for the protesters. After a long meeting with government representatives on Monday (July 27) midnight, the party assured that none of the protesters would be left alone in the face of legal complications.
In a message on social media X-A (formerly Twitter), CJP's chief spokesperson Saurabh Das said that the government has reiterated its commitment to withdraw all FIRs filed against the protesters, release those detained and not take any punitive action in the future. In the meeting, the government representatives presented copies of official notifications from the Home Departments of Bihar and Assam, which clearly guarantee the release of the detainees and legal protection.
The CJP spokesperson further said that the midnight meeting lasted for about two to three hours. In it, positive assurances were given regarding the demand for issuing similar protective guidelines and notifications in other NDA and BJP-ruled states, including the Central government. The government said that the necessary notifications in this regard may be issued by various states by Tuesday.
Earlier, the CJP had strongly warned of another large-scale movement, alleging police harassment and police action against the protesters. However, after a constructive meeting with the government, the party relaxed its position after receiving a message that its concerns were resolved. The party said in a video message that it will continue to work to ensure legal security for the protesters.
