Jamaat is not a party of angels, we too can make mistakes: Opposition leader

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, said, "Jamaat is not an organization of angels. The party's leaders and activists are also human, so it is natural to make mistakes or injustice. However, Jamaat never tolerates any injustice."
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the party's Rukon conference held in Kakrail in the capital on Friday (July 24).
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made it clear that Jamaat has the mentality to correct itself as soon as the mistakes of the party or its leaders and activists are discovered in the interest of the country and the nation. Although there is an opportunity to correct minor mistakes, he warned of taking strict organizational measures without sparing the culprits in the case of serious crimes.
Highlighting the political context, the opposition leader said that the people recently gave a verdict against the old regime through a referendum, which the government should respect. He also commented that if the referendum is questioned under the pretext of the constitution, the legitimacy of the entire uprising is questioned. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the government's slow pace in rehabilitating the victims of the July uprising and the failure to open the July Museum.
