The body of Nura Pagla was exhumed and burned—who is responsible for this anarchy?

The events following the death of Nura Pagla, a once-discussed and controversial figure in Bangladesh, have sparked intense debate across the country. This notorious person, who claimed to be Imam Mahdi, used to propagate various distorted and erroneous doctrines contrary to the basic teachings of Islam during his lifetime. The anger of the general public had been building against him for a long time due to his insulting the Al-Quran as 'bhujpat' or worthless, attempts to mislead Muslims and spreading religious misconceptions. After his death, due to his grave-breaking activities, strange behavior of his followers and ignoring religious restrictions, that anger finally exploded and took the form of a horrific incident such as taking the body out of the grave and burning it in a fire.
Before his death, Nura Pagla built his grave in the style of the Kaaba and ordered his followers to perform Tawaf, which his followers implemented after his death. In addition, after death, the funeral prayer of six Takbirs, introducing their own Kalima - "La ilaha illallahu Mahdi Rasulullah" and changing the words of the call to prayer reveal a mockery of religious customs and punishment. During burial, the rule of burying with the head facing south and feet facing north was introduced, which caused surprise and adverse reactions among local Muslims.
After the death of Nura Pagla on August 23, a house was built on her grave in the style of the Kaaba. This led to extreme anger among the locals. Local devout Muslims clearly saw this act as an insult to religion and hypocrisy and called on the administration to take immediate action. But due to the lack of effective action by the administration, the anger got out of control. At one stage, the general public committed a horrific incident like breaking her grave and burning her body, which is considered dangerous for social and religious stability.
Now the question arises - who will take responsibility for this terrible anarchy? The wrongdoings of Nura Pagla throughout her life, the strange and anti-religious behavior of her followers, or the indifference of the administration? Analysts say that hypocrisy about religion is never sustainable and the religious anger of the common people eventually explodes. However, taking the law into their own hands is not a solution. This incident has made it clear how important it is to maintain a balance between religious beliefs and legal control in society, otherwise anger can go unchecked and create anarchy in society.
