Jahangir's bank account seized;

Bangladesh Bank has ordered to freeze the bank accounts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's former personal assistant Jahangir Alam, his wife Kamrun Nahar and their related institutions. They have also been asked to send all the information including the account opening form within the next five days.
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of the Central Bank has sent instructions in this regard to all banks on Sunday (July 14).
According to the instructions, if there are any accounts in the name of the mentioned individuals and the institutions owned by them in the banks/financial institutions, the transactions of those accounts have been instructed to be suspended for 30 days under section 23 (1) (c) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012.

Meanwhile, a leading media of the country said in a report, that Jahangir of Chatkhil worked as a personal employee of the Prime Minister but used to introduce himself as a personal assistant. He earned crores of rupees by lobbying as personal assistant of the Prime Minister. He built huge wealth in Noakhali and capital Dhaka. He was carrying a licensed pistol.
Citing related sources, the media reported that a notification was issued by the Prime Minister's Office on December 6 last year, alleging that Jahangir Alam was doing various immoral acts by posing as Sheikh Hasina's personal assistant.
It is also said in that report that Jahangir has become the owner of several plot-flats in the capital Dhaka. He bought a 2500 square feet flat in Dhanmondi in the name of his wife. He also owns an eight-storey house at Hari Narayanpur in Maizdi town of Noakhali. That too in his wife's name. He also spent huge money in Noakhali to become a Member of Parliament. Before the twelfth national election, he used to hold meetings with a huge fleet. He has spent lakhs of rupees for these meetings. Besides, he used to invite many influential ministers and important people of the government to his area. He used helicopters for transportation.
