Jamaat-e-Islami does not do power politics, but establishes people's rights and serves humanity: Abdus Sabur

Jamaat-e-Islami does not do power politics, but rather establishes people's rights and serves humanity, said Abdus Sabur, a member of the Central Majlish-e-Shura of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Nayeb-e-Amir of Dhaka Metropolitan South.
He said that in the past, Jamaat-e-Islami implemented various social service programs, but the party's leaders and activists were arrested and harassed by calling them 'anti-state activities'. Still, the people are witnesses that Jamaat has not backed down from social service.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Free Friday Clinic at the Talimul Quran Islamia Madrasa in Kadamtali, Dhaka on Friday (October 3).
Abdus Sabur also said that even though Jamaat did not get the opportunity to serve humanity publicly, it has continued and will continue to serve humanity through various social organizations. He commented, “We will serve the people no matter what, whether we are in power or not. Working for the welfare of the people is the basic principle of Jamaat-e-Islami.”
Stating that discrimination has not been eliminated even after 54 years of independence, he said that this discrimination has arisen because the state is run on man-made doctrines, excluding the laws of Allah.
Citing an example, he said that although healthcare is the birthright of every citizen, extreme discrimination prevails in reality. “One class of people goes to Singapore for treatment, while another class of people stand in line for hours at government hospitals and cannot get a doctor. The only reason for this is man-made laws and doctrines, where the legislator himself is the beneficiary of that law.”
Abdus Sabur emphasized that in an Islamic state system, everyone from the head of state to the common citizen will enjoy equal opportunities and benefits. There will be no discrimination based on party affiliation, religion, caste or group. “To ensure equal rights for people, the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami must be brought forward in the next elections to build an Islamic society,” he said.
The program was presided over by Talimul Quran Islamia Madrasa Chairman Shahjahan Khan and moderated by Madrasa Principal Maulana Ismail Khan. Abdul Jabbar, Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Narayanganj-4 parliamentary candidate, Mujibur Rahman Miyaji, Narayanganj District Shura and Working Committee member, and Abdul Alim, Ward No. 65 councilor candidate, were present as special guests.
