A fire and gunfire broke out at a cinema in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, due to an Indian film screening. Several Indian film shows have been temporarily cancelled as a result. Cinema authorities said the attacks were mainly aimed at South Asian film screenings.

Following the attacks, screenings of Rishav Shetty's 'Kantara: A Legend Chapter One' and Pawan Kalyan's 'They Call Him Oji' have been postponed. Authorities said they will not screen any Indian films until the situation normalises.

The first attack took place in the early hours of September 25. At 5:20 am local time, two men set the cinema's entrance on fire using flammable materials. According to Halton police, the attackers used red gas canisters.

The attack caused moderate damage to the exterior of the cinema. CCTV footage showed a white SUV pulling up in front of the cinema hall at 5:15 am and two men got out, poured liquid on the door and set it on fire.

Local police have launched an investigation and security has been beefed up to bring the situation under control.
