Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, along with everyone on board, have been killed in a tragic helicopter crash. The crash occurred in the snowy and mountainous region of East Azerbaijan province, state media and international reports said.

President Raisi's fleet consisted of three helicopters. Two landed safely, but one crashed. Rescue efforts were hampered by fog and the remoteness of the area, but no survivors were found at the scene. A total of eight people were killed in the crash, including the president, foreign minister, security guards, and other officials.

Following the crash, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Mohammad Moqbar as interim president. He will serve for two months, during which time a new presidential election will be held.
