In a speech on Friday (October 3), Putin said, "The situation in Gaza is the most terrible event in modern human history. Even UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres admitted that Gaza has become the largest cemetery for children today."

He added, "We are ready to support Trump's proposal, but its ultimate goal must be a two-state solution. The most important question is - what do the Palestinians think about this proposal."

According to international analysts, Putin's comment is not only a call to attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, but also a message to clarify Russia's diplomatic position in the peace process in the Middle East.
