Mohamed Salah has said that this will be his last year at Liverpool. The Egyptian forward told Sky Sports on Friday about a new contract with Liverpool this year.
According to ESPN, Liverpool has been in talks with Salah for the past few months. But Salah said on Friday that the two sides are still far from turning those talks into a deal. Salah was asked by Sky Sports whether this will be his last season at Anfield. Salah said, 'So far? Yes.
There has been no progress on the contract in the last six months. We are far from a deal. So, we just have to wait and see.' The Egyptian forward has already entered the final six months of his contract and his term at Liverpool will expire in the upcoming summer.
Salah is still performing well in the Liverpool jersey. He has scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists in 18 matches in the current Premier League season. He has set a record by contributing 30 goals.
32-year-old Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017. Salah has scored a total of 20 goals for the Allreds in the Premier League, Champions League, and English League Cup this season.
No player has done so in so few matches, according to football statistics agency Opta.
He expressed his desire to win the Premier League, spending his eighth season at the club, saying, "My first desire is to win the Premier League for Liverpool. This could be my last year for the club, so I want to do something special for this city."
Arne Slott's men will take to the field against Manchester United tomorrow. The Liverpool coach hopes to win that match and maintain the top spot. If the contract is not extended, this could be Liverpool's last season in the Premier League.
