Tasneem Zara, the party's senior joint member secretary, has resigned from the National Citizens Party (NCP). She confirmed this information through her Facebook post on Saturday evening. At the same time, she also officially informed the NCP's party group about her resignation.
In her resignation letter, Tasneem Zara wrote, 'Dear comrades, I have resigned from the party. I have learned a lot from you in the last one and a half years. For that, my sincere gratitude. I wish you all the best.' Her message shows her gratitude and good wishes to her party colleagues.
Later, in another detailed post on Facebook, Tasneem Zara outlined her position to the people of Khilgaon, Sabujbagh and Mugda. She wrote that she is a child of Khilgaon and was born and raised there. Her dream was to go to parliament from the platform of a political party and serve the people of the area and the country. However, in the current reality, she has decided not to participate in the election as a candidate of any particular party or alliance.
She also said that she is not backing down from the promise she made to the people of the country to build a new political culture. No matter what the situation, she is determined to keep that promise. That is why Tasnim Zara announced to contest as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9 constituency in the upcoming elections.
She also highlighted the challenges of being an independent candidate. In her words, being a party candidate gives her the opportunity to communicate with local offices, well-organized workforce, and the administration. But being an independent candidate, she will not have these benefits. In this case, the common people of the area are her only hope.
Regarding the preparation for the election, she said that as per the legal obligation, signatures of 4,693 voters of Dhaka-9 constituency have to be collected to stand as an independent candidate. She said that the work of collecting these signatures will start from tomorrow. She expressed her desire for spontaneous cooperation, stating that it is difficult to collect such a large number of signatures in just one day.
In addition, she also paid tribute to those who had recently supported her through election fundraising, saying that anyone who wanted to withdraw the donated money could do so because of her decision to contest the election as an independent. She said that a form has been requested to be filled for the return of money sent through bKash and that the process for returning money sent through banks will also be announced soon.
In the last part of the post, Tasnim Zara referred to herself as 'your daughter' and sought the love, support and cooperation of the people of the area. She said that she wants to continue the election fight based on honesty, dedication and an indomitable will to do new politics.
