Fined 2 lakh 10 thousand taka for converting ordinary buses into sleeper coaches

A mobile court in Sunamganj has fined four buses 2 lakh 10 thousand taka for converting ordinary passenger buses into sleeper coaches without permission.
On Saturday (August 22) night, a drive was conducted in the new bus station area of Mallikpur in Sunamganj city with the help of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The drive caught the issue of changing the structure of buses and operating them as sleeper coaches without permission.
Euro Coach was fined 1 lakh taka, Bengal Transport 50 thousand taka, Shyamoli Transport 30 thousand taka and St. Martin Transport 30 thousand taka in the drive.
Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Sunamganj District Commissioner's Office Md. Sabbir Hossain Shaon conducted a mobile court and collected these fines.
Executive Magistrate Md. Sabbir Hossain Shaon said that four buses have been fined for transporting passengers by converting ordinary passenger buses into sleeper coaches without obtaining permission. He said that the administration is continuing to monitor such irregularities on the roads.
He also said that it is important to comply with the approved structure and related laws in passenger transportation. If the structure of the bus is changed and operated without permission, action will be taken according to the law in the future.
BRTA's Sunamganj office inspector Hasib Islam Himel and members of the law enforcement agencies were present during the operation.
The administration has informed that various issues including vehicle documents, approvals and transport structures are being monitored regularly on various roads in Sunamganj. If there is any case of changing the type of bus without permission or violating the transport law, legal action will be taken against those concerned.
