Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju has strongly criticized the current government's policy stance at a discussion meeting at the capital's Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium on Sunday. He alleged that the government has lost its policy and stance in the face of political pressure.

He said, "The interim government has no principal position. How long does it move right under pressure from BNP, it moves left for a while under pressure from Jamaat. It sometimes tries to move up under pressure from NCP."

The discussion meeting titled 'Political Challenges of Reform and Electoral Unity in a Low-Trust Society' was organized by AB Party, Bangladesh State Reform Movement and United People's Bangladesh (UP Bangladesh). At the meeting, the three parties united and pledged to work together on the path of reform and political change.

Regarding the political unrest over the implementation of the July National Charter and the recommendations of the Consensus Commission, Mujibur Rahman Manju said that the state is now in a deep crisis. In his words, “After sorting everything out, the crisis has now concentrated in three areas—whether the referendum will be held first or together, what will happen to the Note of Dissent, and what kind of election will the next election be.”

He blamed the government’s lack of principles for this crisis. Addressing the government, he said, “Our request is that you correct your position. If you also want to become the owner of the state, it will not happen. You have to listen to the suffering and needs of the people.”

Calling on the youth at the meeting, the AB Party chairman said, “They also want to block the roads, because it is true that if the roads are not blocked, the demands will not be met. The advisors do not get time to sit and talk to them, they talk to them while walking on the streets. After a few days, the advisors will have to walk on the streets.”

AAP Bangladesh convener Ali Ahsan Junayed said, “Even after the July mass uprising, the hope of an inclusive state has failed. Political parties are prioritizing taking advantage of the weakness of the state to come to power, not thinking about the people.”

AB Party Joint General Secretary Didar Bhuiyan said, “Revolution has now become a luxury. From torn sandals to a five-star hotel—this cannot be the character of a revolutionary.”

The meeting, chaired by State Reform Movement President Hasnat Qayyum, also included party General Secretary Syed Hasib Uddin Hossain, JSD General Secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmud Swapan, AB Party Senior Vice President Abdul Wahab Minar, and AAP Bangladesh Member Secretary Arefin Md. Hizbullah.
