Shibir's new history in DUCSU: Chhatra Dal did not win any posts!

Mohammad Abu Sadiq, known as Sadiq Kayem, has created history in the Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) elections. He has been elected as the new Vice President (VP). He won by a landslide as a candidate from the Islami Chhatra Shibir-supported United Students Alliance. Sadiq Kayem was elected as the VP in the elections held on September 9, 2025, with 14,042 votes. His nearest rival, Abidul Islam Khan (supported by Chhatra Dal), received only 5,708 votes. This landslide victory has opened a new horizon in student politics.

Based on the final results of the Dhaka University Central Student Union elections, voting was held for a total of 28 posts. Out of these, 12 are editorial posts and 13 are member posts. In the elections, candidates from the United Students Alliance supported by Islami Chhatra Shibir won 19 posts, which is about 68% of the total number of posts. Independent candidates won 9 posts and no candidate from any panel supported by Chhatra Dal won any post.

The winning candidates in the editorial posts are—Md. Abu Sadiq Kayem for Vice-President, S. M. Farhad for General Secretary, Muha. Mohiuddin Khan for Assistant General Secretary, Liberation War and Democratic Movement Editor Fatema Tasnim Juma, Science and Technology Editor Iqbal Haider, Common Room, Reading Room and Cafeteria Editor Umme Salma, International Editor Jasim Uddin Khan. Literature and Cultural Editor Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad, Research and Publication Editor Sanjida Ahmed Tonbi, Sports Editor Arman Hossain, Student Transport Editor Asif Abdullah, Social Services Editor Zubair Bin Nesari, Career Development Editor Mazharul Islam, Health and Environment Editor MM Al Minhaj and Human Rights and Legal Affairs Editor Md. Zakaria.

It is noteworthy that independent candidates won the editorial posts of Literature and Cultural, Research and Publication, and Social Service. The remaining editorial posts were won by candidates from the Chhatra Shibir-backed panel.

This result is being considered a historic victory for the Chhatra Shibir-backed United Student Alliance. It has established new strength and influence in their campus politics and initiated new leadership and motivation in the student community.
