The students of Jagannath University have warned to lock the gates of the university if the vice-chancellor is appointed from outside. Today, Tuesday (August 27), the students made such a threat after protesting in the university's Shaheed Minar premises.
The students said that all the vice-chancellors who have come here in the past days have only performed their routine duties. They have no focus on the development of the university, solving the basic problems of the students. It used to take years for previous vice-chancellors to identify the university's problems. Later, in the name of solving the problem, he looted crores of rupees and left.
After the demonstration, student Faraji Masum Billah said, "We have many qualified teachers to become the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University." We should appoint only those qualified teachers who were with the students' movement as our vice-chancellors. If any teacher of another university is appointed as our vice-chancellor without complying with our one-point demand, we will not allow him to enter the campus. So that he cannot enter the university, students will not only put a lock on the gate, they will put super glue on the lock.
Islamic Studies Department student BM Tanzil Ahmed said, "We don't want to see any guest bird as our vice-chancellor." Whoever is appointed as our Vice-Chancellor must be a teacher of our University. One thing to be kept in mind here is that the teachers who opposed the movement of the student society, even if they have hundred qualifications to be vice-chancellors, they cannot be appointed as vice-chancellors. The Vice-Chancellor will be only those who have directly and indirectly supported the student movement.
