A top Iranian leader recently warned that their missiles are capable of hitting not only Israel but also the US capital, Washington. After this announcement, a new storm of discussion has arisen in international politics.

For a long time, Iran's missile technology was limited to regional defense limitations. However, it is now being considered an important weapon on the map of world politics. The 'Khoramshar Five' is coming to the center of discussion. Recently, a video was circulated on the Internet, where a huge missile is being launched. Although the video is of the 2023 Khoramshar Four, it has created a hint of new technological possibilities.

According to experts, the Khoramshar Five could be Iran's first ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile). Its range is about 12,000 kilometers, which is capable of reaching the US mainland. Its speed is Mark 16, or about 20,000 kilometers per hour, which dictates the high technology of hypersonic weapons.

In 2015, Iran announced that it would not develop missiles with a range of more than 2,000 kilometers. The argument was that it had sufficient defenses to counter regional threats. But current tensions, regional conflicts, and competition with the United States and Israel are prompting Iran to reassess this previous commitment.

Experts say that developing an ICBM is not only politically challenging, but also technically. Launching into space, re-entering the atmosphere, and accurately hitting the target all depend on complex calculations.

The warhead of the Khorramshahr Five weighs about two tons, which is equivalent to many countries' nuclear or bunker-busting bombs. However, the full range of the missile is not yet certain. Iran has already shown through the hypersonic "Fattah" missile that it is capable of developing complex heat-resistant components and guidance systems.

Currently, the Khorramshahr Five is more a matter of rumor and technical feasibility than an official announcement. In June, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasser Zadeh announced that they had tested a two-ton warhead at hypersonic speed, which is widely seen as an early version of the Khorramshahr Five.

This technological breakthrough poses new challenges to international security and diplomacy, with Iran emerging as a key player not only on the regional but also on the global defense map.
