New debate on the nuclear bomb issue in Iran: Open demands of hardliners

A new intense debate has begun in Iran on the nuclear weapons issue amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Where this issue was previously limited to behind-the-scenes discussions, it has now come up for public discussion. According to various sources, after the recent US-Israeli attacks, the country's hardliners are taking a stronger stance in favor of building a nuclear bomb.
In particular, the influence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is now more visible than ever. Sources say that those who take a hardline stance on the issue of nuclear policy are gradually increasing their influence at the policy-making level. Although Iran has not yet officially decided to build a nuclear bomb, the demand for a change in this policy is becoming increasingly strong internally.
Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had previously declared nuclear weapons forbidden in Islam. In line with that position, Iran has long claimed that its nuclear program is peaceful. At the same time, the country has also shown its loyalty to international agreements as a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
However, recent developments have begun to question this position. An article published in the Tasnim News Agency has called for a direct withdrawal from the NPT. Even the issue of developing a nuclear bomb is no longer a secret—it is being discussed in state media.
Meanwhile, hardline politician Mohammad Javad Larijani has proposed suspending the NPT. According to him, a special committee should be formed to assess how effective the agreement is for Iran. He has also clearly mentioned withdrawing from the agreement if it is not necessary.
Analysts believe that the recent military attacks have brought about a major change in Iran's strategic thinking. Whereas previously there was hope of gaining benefits by complying with international agreements, many now believe that there is little real gain in it. As a result, public opinion and political pressure in favor of acquiring nuclear capabilities is gradually increasing.
This situation is raising new concerns not only in Iran's domestic politics, but also in global security and diplomacy. According to experts, if Iran really moves towards changing its nuclear policy, then there could be a major shift in the balance of power in the Middle East.
