The mystery surrounding Netanyahu: Why are rumors of death or injury spreading?

Published: 03:33 10 March 2026
Rumors of death or serious injury surrounding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have been circulating on social media and some international media outlets. However, no reliable or official evidence has been found to support this claim so far. As a result, various speculations have been made about the matter, but the reality is still not certain.
A report by the Iranian media outlet Tasnim News Agency has claimed that Netanyahu may have been injured or killed after the recent Iranian attack. Although the report did not present any official announcement or clear evidence in this regard. Nevertheless, such rumors spread quickly on social media due to several incidents.
First, Netanyahu has not been seen in public much recently and no new videos or public statements of him have come to light. Second, according to various sources, security around his official residence has been tightened more than before. Third, several previously scheduled diplomatic visits have been postponed or canceled, which has further fueled the rumors.
It is worth noting that Tasnim News Agency is generally considered a media outlet close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, part of Iran's military. Even the US Treasury Department has listed this media outlet as an IRGC-related organization.
On the other hand, the Israeli media outlet The Jerusalem Post reported that there is no reliable information about Netanyahu's death or injury so far. According to them, the public presence of top state leaders is often limited in war or security situations, which is not unusual.
According to government sources, an official statement was released from Netanyahu's office on March 7. The day before, on March 6, he was seen visiting an area in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba. As a result, various sources have stated that the rumors of death that have spread so far have not been based on confirmed information.
