Allegations of dismissal from Islami Bank due to Chhatra Dal

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited has been accused of firing an officer due to his political affiliation. It is learnt that the officer was a former active member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal Central Committee. He was forced to resign due to internal pressure from the bank after his political affiliation was recently revealed.
The victim claims that he was unfairly dismissed from his job simply because he was a Chhatra Dal member. He said that despite performing his duties honestly for a long time, he was subjected to discrimination due to his political affiliation.
When asked about the matter, a spokesperson for Islami Bank declined to comment directly. However, he said, “The dismissal issues are handled according to the bank’s own policies and rules. The main consideration is not the employee’s political affiliation, but the employee’s performance.”
According to political analysts, such a decision could create a new debate on the issue of professional impartiality in the financial sector. They believe that whether there is political affiliation or not—if someone does not have a deficiency in performance, it is unreasonable to remove them from their jobs.
Meanwhile, many have expressed anger after the incident spread on social media. Many wrote, “Politics should not be associated with work. Every citizen has the right to express their opinion and political involvement.”
Although there is still no clear information about the truth of the incident, criticism has begun in various quarters. The question of how much discrimination in the workplace is increasing, especially due to political views, has now come to the fore.
