Fierce fire in Kalmilta Bazar, Bijoy Sarani, 10 units under control

A fierce fire broke out in Kalmilta Bazar, located at Bijoy Sarani intersection, the busiest area of the capital Dhaka. Panic spread in the area when the fire broke out early on Tuesday (May 19). Fire service members quickly reached the spot and started work to control the fire.
Fire service sources said that the fire was reported at 5:14 am. Within just six minutes, at 5:20 am, the first unit reached the spot and started rescue and fire control activities.
Initial information revealed that the fire started on the ground floor of a two-storey market in Kalmilta Bazar. However, the actual cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
As the fire spread rapidly in the morning, one unit of the fire service was added one after the other to bring the situation under control. Currently, a total of 10 units from Tejgaon, Mohammadpur, Mirpur and Siddiqbazar fire stations are working simultaneously to control the fire.
Meanwhile, a crowd of eager people was seen at the spot. Locals said smoke and intense flames from the fire could be seen from a distance.
The extent of the damage and whether there were any casualties in the fire has not yet been confirmed. It is expected that detailed information will be known after the fire service's operation is completed.
