BNP's expelled leader and former central organizing secretary of Jubo Dal Ishaq Sarkar, popular social activist Mohiuddin Roni and content creator Nuruzzaman Kafi have officially joined the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP).
They joined the party at a function organized at the Diploma Engineers Institute auditorium in the capital on Friday (April 24) afternoon. At this time, NCP's central leaders welcomed them with flowers.
Party sources said that Ishaq Sarkar may be given an important organizational responsibility of NCP. The organization plans to make him the convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South. It is reported that the current convener Alauddin Mohammad may resign for this purpose.
Ishaq Sarkar has previously served as the central organizing secretary of Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal. Due to his active role in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party movement, he was accused in more than three hundred cases and was later acquitted by the court in some cases.
In the last thirteenth national parliamentary election, he sought BNP nomination from Dhaka-7 constituency. However, he was expelled from the party after not getting nomination and participating in the election as an independent candidate.
Mohiuddin Rony, who joined the NCP at the same event, became known through his long-standing movement against irregularities and corruption in the railways. On the other hand, Nuruzzaman Kafi is a well-known face for his social awareness videos. The party's policymakers believe that their inclusion in this new political platform will further strengthen the NCP.
