A new twist has come in the murder case of popular Bengali film star Salman Shah, nearly three decades after his death. The court has ordered his body to be exhumed from the grave and a re-autopsy to be conducted for the sake of investigating the case. The incident has sparked fresh discussions across the country.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana issued the order on May 24 following the application of CID Inspector Ziaul Morshed, the investigating officer of the case. As per the court's order, the body will be exhumed in the presence of the executive magistrate, a post-mortem report will be prepared and a re-autopsy will be conducted. The investigating officer said that this process will start only after the necessary administrative process is completed.

On September 6, 1996, film star Salman Shah was rescued from his New Eskaton house in the capital in an unwell condition. Later, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. Although the incident was registered as an accidental death at the time, the family has been demanding a re-investigation by alleging murder for a long time.

The incident was registered as a murder case in October last year on the orders of the court. Several people, including Salman Shah's wife Sameera Haque and former film producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai, have been named as accused in the case. The prosecution claims that Salman Shah's death was not a suicide, but a planned murder. They hope that the real mystery of the death will be revealed through a new autopsy.
