2021 arrest was 'illegal', claims Porimani

Actress Porimani has once again opened up about the raid on her home in 2021, her arrest and her imprisonment for nearly four weeks. She claims that she was illegally detained on the orders of Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, the then RAB Director General and later Inspector General of Police.
Porimani made these remarks in a post on her verified Facebook page on Friday (July 10) night. Referring to the statement made by former RAB intelligence officer Lieutenant Colonel Khairul Islam about her arrest in a recent online discussion, she commented that the truth is coming out after a long time.
According to Parimani, the officer claimed in the discussion that a raid was conducted at her Banani residence on August 4, 2021 on the orders of her superiors. Thanking him for this statement, the actress said that although it is late, a public discussion has begun on the events behind the arrest.
Parimani was arrested after the RAB raid on August 4, 2021 and a case was filed against her under the Narcotics Control Act. After several rounds of remand and about 27 days in prison, she was granted bail on August 31 and released from prison the next day. The High Court also expressed dissatisfaction with the process of granting her multiple remands later.
In a Facebook post, Parimani said that the experience at that time had deeply damaged her personal and professional life. She alleged that after her arrest, a negative perception was created around her, the impact of which she had to bear for a long time.
The actress questioned whether it is possible to ever regain the time, mental peace, and social status lost in prison. At the same time, she also raised the question of how the responsibility and remedy will be determined if a citizen is harmed by a decision of a state institution.
However, Parimani said that she has no intention of taking revenge against anyone. According to her, she wants to speak out for truth, justice and humane behavior. She also expressed her hope that no innocent citizen will be a victim of abuse of power in the future.
The actress expressed her gratitude for the support of her family, colleagues, journalists and fans during difficult times. She also said that she will move forward with her children, family and acting career without getting stuck in past experiences.
Parimani believes that the truth cannot be hidden for long. She wants to repay the love of the audience through new work and asks everyone to pray for her.
However, information that the alleged statement of the former RAB officer and Parimani's allegations have been proven through an independent investigation or a court ruling has not yet been made public. Therefore, the matter is considered based on the statements and claims of the people concerned.
