Grocers including women victims of brutal torture in Sreepur

A grocer and his wife were brutally tortured and beaten up in Gazipur's Sreepur. Md. Hasim (48) and his wife Maryam (45), a businessman of Kewa market in the municipal area, were seriously injured.
It has been alleged that Ishab Ali and his sons Rubel, Roman and Hridoy of Kalmakanda upazila of Netrokona district, led by Soleman, son of local Abdus Sattar, tried to hack the businessman and his wife to death and escaped with their lives. All the accused are tenants of Soleman's house. On the evening of September 10, Md. Hasim, the son of deceased Ah Mannan, alleged that this surprise attack was carried out as soon as he went in front of the house on his way home from the shop. In this regard, a complaint letter has been filed in Sreepur Model Police Station mentioning the names of the accused.
Locals said that Hasim and his wife were ambushed on their way back from the shop. At that time, Hasim was cut on the head and ran away. His wife Maryam was also injured in the head. Both of them fell to the ground due to excessive bleeding on their heads. In critical condition, with the help of local people, the emergency department doctor of Sripur Upazila Health Complex referred them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Grocer Hasim and his family demanded appropriate punishment for the accused subject to investigation.
Sreepur Model Police Station OC Zainal Abedin told reporters, I have just joined, legal action will be taken after confirming the truth of the complaint.
