No chance to postpone national elections: Legal Advisor

There is no chance to deviate from the announced position of the interim government's chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the national election schedule, Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul said.
He said this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Tuesday (August 19). The Legal Advisor said that there has been no qualitative change among the political parties yet. That is why they are making various statements in a political tone. However, the government is steadfast regarding the elections and there is no question of going beyond the announced schedule.
Dr. Asif Nazrul said, "The interim government is determined to complete the elections on time. There is no reason to be confused about this."
He also said that the recommendations received from various quarters regarding the reform of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Election Commission are being taken into consideration. He assured that the necessary laws in this regard will be formulated within the next two to three months.
The Legal Advisor believes that it is important to strengthen institutions for establishing good governance and conducting fair elections. The government is taking consistent steps towards this end.
Basically, the Legal Advisor's statement made it clear that the schedule of the upcoming national elections will remain unchanged and the elections will be held on time.
