Ministry of Education, Water Resources and Social Welfare gets new secretaries

Three important ministries of the country have got new secretaries. On Monday (August 18), the Ministry of Public Administration issued a separate notification appointing new secretaries to the Ministry of Education, Water Resources and Social Welfare.

Rehana Parveen has been appointed as the new secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education. She was previously serving as the Executive Chairman (Secretary) of the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA). This is the first time in history that a woman official has become the secretary of the Ministry of Education.

Md. Mokabbir Hossain has been appointed as the senior secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources. He was previously the senior secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, Additional Secretary attached to the Finance Division, Mohammad Abu Yusuf, has been appointed as the new secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare. He has been promoted and appointed to the post of secretary.

Incidentally, on July 23, Siddique Zubair, the then Senior Secretary (contractual) of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, was withdrawn and attached to the Ministry of Public Administration in the face of objections from students.

On the other hand, Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Nazmul Ahsan recently went on post-retirement leave (PRL) and Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Md. Mohiuddin retired on August 4.
