Jonayed Saki, the chief coordinator of the Mass Movement, said that reforms are needed for elections, but not elections for reforms. He made these comments at a public dialogue held in Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria today (Thursday).
Jonayed Saki also said, “Elections are a reform and the need for elections is essential for reforms.” He expressed concern about the future of Bangladesh due to the lack of political consensus and said, “If someone wants to destroy the consensus for political gain, it will be harmful for the country.”
He also mentioned, “Reforms are not possible without the support of the people. Legal reforms are needed to ensure fair and free elections before the elections, and constitutional reform will take place after the elections.”
He spoke against political fascism, which is prevalent in management, thinking, and at every level, and it can only be defeated through a democratic system.
Members of the Mass Solidarity Movement and other local leaders also spoke at the event.
