The government-private medical colleges which were closed due to violence and agitation for quota reforms in government jobs are not opening now. If the situation in the country normalizes, the medical college will be opened according to the government's instructions, said the Directorate of Health Education.
Director General of the Department Prof. Tito Mia said on Monday that there has been no discussion about the opening of medical colleges. When the overall environment is similar to that of students staying in a hostel, the matter will be considered. Most of our students live in hostels. If the hostel is not opened, the students will not be able to stay, will not be able to participate in the educational program. Professor Tito Mia said, we are waiting for the government's decision on this matter. When all the educational institutions will open as per the order of the Supreme Court, we will also open the medical colleges. We are not going to do anything differently. Every year 5380 students in 38 government medical colleges across the country, 6293 students in 67 private medical colleges get admission in MBBS course. And 545 students in the dental unit of the government dental college and medical college, 545 students in 12 private dental colleges and 16 dental units are admitted every year. In all, the number of students in public and private medical colleges across the country is more than 50 thousand
