The pathetic condition of the Chaurakarra-Chowdhuri Malancha Road in Magra Union of Tangail Sadar Upazila has not been resolved even after 15 years. This road, which is only 1 km long, is the main means of communication for about 2,500 people in 10 villages of Magra Union. The road gets submerged in water during the rains and becomes completely impassable.

The road is full of potholes at various places, and during the monsoons they turn into mud pits. Vehicles ply at risk, which often leads to accidents. Sick patients, school-going students, and the elderly suffer greatly while traveling.

Local residents have repeatedly demanded the repair of the road from public representatives, but to no avail.

Main Uddin (72), retired teacher: The road is a terrible obstacle for students. There is always a risk of getting injured in accidents.

Tayez Uddin (74): The road became completely impassable in the rain. Due to the poor condition of the road, a rickshaw overturned and the passenger was seriously injured.
Md. Selim (45), Rural Doctor: Despite assurances for almost two decades, the road has not been improved.

The important road, Chaurakara Bazar, which is known as the largest market in the western region, is connected to this road. Working people, students, and traders use this road every day. But the poor condition of the road has also affected business and commerce.

Locals appeal Despite promises made for a long time, the road has not been repaired. The locals have requested the authorities to solve this problem quickly and alleviate their suffering.

What the concerned authorities should do
1. Repair the road immediately and make it suitable for movement.

2. Work on a proper plan for sustainable development.

3. Understand and fulfill their needs by discussing with the local people.

The concerned authorities should seriously consider the impact that the poor condition of a simple road is having on the lives of so many people.
