Attempt to kill old fisherman by stabbing throat in Chatmohar

An old fisherman named Gopal Chandra Halder (60) was accused of trying to kill an old fisherman by stabbing his throat at Chatmohar in Pabna due to a previous dispute. He was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The incident took place at a saloon located in Shahi Masjid area of Chatmohar town center on Saturday (October 12) around 4 pm.
Injured Gopal Halder is the son of deceased Moni Halder of Shahi Masjid area. A fisherman by profession. He has no son. Married girls. He lives alone at home. And the accused barber (salon owner) Jiban Das (32) is the son of Khagen Das of Bothar village in the upazila.
No one could immediately tell the exact reason for this assassination attempt. However, the locals initially think that there was a dispute about something.
Local eyewitnesses said that during the incident, Gopal Chandra entered Halda's salon. At that time, the glass of the shop was blocked from inside. After three-four minutes, the locals came forward when shouting and scuffling was heard from inside the saloon. Outsiders could not enter as the glass was blocked from inside.
At that time, before anyone could understand anything, the accused Jeevan opened the glass of the shop and ran away. After seeing Gopal Chandra lying there in a bloody state, he was rescued and taken to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex. As the condition worsened there, the doctor shifted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Asif Uddin Khan, the doctor on duty at the emergency department of Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex, said, 'A large part of the injured person's throat was cut deeply. Bleeding profusely. We cannot suture and stop the bleeding. So referred to Rajshahi. His condition is critical.'
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatmohar Police Station Manjurul Alam said, 'So far it has not been possible to find the family members of the injured person. It is not known what caused the incident. However, the police inspected the scene and seized a blood-stained knife from there. Efforts are on to arrest the accused Jeevan. A case will be filed if the family members come and file a complaint.'
