64-year-old woman beaten, human chain against youth leader in protest in Chilmari

Locals formed a human chain to protest the attack and anarchy by Juba Dal leader Rezaul Karim and his loyalist Ismail Gong in connection with the beating of a 64-year-old woman in Chilmari, Kurigram.
On Wednesday afternoon, a protest march with the participation of men and women from the area took out from the pump intersection of Thanahat Union of the upazila and went to the upazila council premises and turned into a human chain. Then at that time local men and women spoke in a human chain for an hour.
Hafizur, the victim's son, said that last Saturday night, Juba Dal leader Rezaul Karim blocked the road and beat my mother. Because of this, a case has been filed in the police station. But the case has not been filed yet. We are being threatened several times due to filing a case in the police station. So today the local residents have called for this human chain.
Local Akalima Begum said, beating one woman means beating all women. I want justice for these BNP leaders Rezaul Karim and Ismail Hossain. We have no security, we want security.
In this regard, Chilmari Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pranakrishna Debnath said, the way they have complained does not lead to a case. Later we sent it to the court. Now the case will be filed if permission is given by the court.
