Former land minister's son Tamal is on 10-day remand in two cases

The court granted 10-day police remand to Ishwardi Upazila Jubo League President Shirhan Sharif Tamal, younger son of Pabna-4 Constituency MP and former Lands Minister Late Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu in two cases.
On Tuesday (September 10) afternoon, Pabna Senior Judicial Magistrate Amli Court-2 Judge Md. Mostafizur Rahman granted this remand. Accused Tamal in two cases of Bullets and Explosives and Arms Act.
Inspector (Investigation) Monirul Islam and Sub-Inspector (SI) Nayan Kumar Saha of Ishwardi police station, who investigated the two cases, confirmed the matter.
Earlier on last Thursday (September 5) around two o'clock in the night Tamal was arrested from a house at Alobagh intersection of Ishwardi by the members of RAB-12 Pabna camp. A foreign pistol, a magazine full of four rounds and a private car were seized from Tamal this time.
According to the statement of the case, on August 4, in a round of anti-discrimination student-crowd program, the son of former land minister late Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, led by former MP Ghalibur Rahman Sharif, his younger brother Ishwardi Upazila Jubo League president Shirhan Sharif Tamal attacked with armed forces. Four people were shot and injured. Vandalism, looting. At least 15 others were beaten and fatally injured.
In this incident, Nazrul Islam, who was shot by the son of deceased Abdul Rashid of Shailpara Mohalla of Ishwardi on August 15, filed a case with MP Ghalib as the plaintiff and Shirhan Sharif Tamal as the 2nd defendant, naming 71 people and naming 80-90 unknown people as defendants.
Ishwardi Police Inspector (Investigation) Monirul Islam said that Shirhan Sharif Tamal has several cases of attempted murder, shooting and explosives under the Explosives Act. At the same time, a case was filed under the Arms Act on September 6 after the RAB was arrested with weapons.
He said that Tamal was handed over to a court on September 7 and a fourteen-day remand was filed in these two cases of ammunition and explosives and RAB's arrest with weapons. The court has granted five days of remand for a total of ten days.
