Protest rally demanding the release of Salam Pintu in Tangail

Salam Pintu Mukti Parishad, Upazila BNP and its affiliated organizations held a protest march and rally demanding the unconditional release of BNP Central Executive Committee Vice Chairman and former Deputy Minister Ed.Abdus Salam Pintu.
The protest rally was held on Tuesday (September 10) afternoon at Elenga Bus Stand area of Kalihati Upazila. First, the activists took a protest march and circled the important roads of Elenga Municipality. Later, BNP central executive committee member Lutfar Rahman Matin, upazila BNP ex-president Bir Muktijodha Shukur Mahmud, Jubo Dal ex-convenor Shamim Al Mamun Mukul, Chhatra Dal ex-convenor Sheikh Aminur Islam, joint convenor Sharif Molla, Arif addressed a short rally at the Elenga bus stand area. Islam, former member secretary of Elenga Municipal Chhatra Dal Rakib Molla and others. Several hundred leaders and activists of upazila BNP and its affiliates were present at the time.
The speakers demanded immediate and unconditional release of Abdus Salam Pintu. Otherwise, he warned of a more stringent program.
Abdus Salam Pintu was elected MP from the seat (Gopalpur-Bhoonapur) in the last 1991 and 2001 parliamentary elections. In 2001 he got the responsibility of Deputy Minister. In January 2008, he was arrested in the August 21 grenade attack case and is in jail.
