The activities of terrorists and criminal gangs in the Jungle Salimpur area of Chittagong will be strictly suppressed, said Salahuddin Ahmed. He said that regular operations by law enforcement agencies will continue and no criminal group will be allowed to establish a safe haven there.
He said these things at a press briefing organized after visiting the Jungle Salimpur area of Chittagong on Saturday. The minister said that there have been allegations of various types of criminal activities in the area for a long time. After taking office, the current government has considered the matter seriously and conducted a coordinated operation by the law enforcement agencies.
He said that in the past, some terrorist groups were involved in activities such as establishing dominance in the area, extortion and practicing weapons. There have even been incidents of attacks on law enforcement installations. Those involved behind these incidents are being investigated and legal action will be taken against those concerned.
Addressing the local residents, the Home Minister said that there is no reason for the real residents to panic. No one will be suddenly evicted. Rather, the government will take a plan to ensure the safety of the people of the area and for sustainable rehabilitation. He also urged not to listen to any rumors or propaganda in this regard.
The Minister also highlighted the development plans for the area. He said that initiatives have been taken to improve the road communication system, expand the infrastructure of the law enforcement agencies and construct various government facilities. In addition, operations will be intensified in the surrounding crime-prone areas, including Jangal Salimpur. He expressed his determination to establish the rule of law in the country and create a crime-free environment with the cooperation of the people.
