The Parliament House became heated on the first day of the first session of the 13th National Parliament. Immediately after Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed announced the President's speech, opposition members stood up and started protesting and displayed placards.

Opposition members started shouting slogans loudly as the session began on Thursday. At this time, the Speaker appealed to them to remain calm and requested them to listen to the President's speech patiently. But the opposition members remained firm in their position and continued to protest with placards.

Shortly after this, President Mohammad Shahabuddin entered the Parliament House. Even as he started speaking, opposition members stood up and protested. Later, as soon as the President started speaking, they left the Parliament House, which is known as a 'walkout' in parliamentary parlance.

According to parliamentary sources, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led opposition alliance had already been objecting to the President's speech. In continuation of that objection, they held a protest program in the session.

It is worth noting that when an opposition party or a member deliberately leaves the session room to protest a decision or statement in parliament, it is called a 'walkout'. In Bangladeshi parliamentary politics, the opposition party has taken such steps at various times to protest various government decisions.
