Bangla language and literature will shed new light on the world: Tarique Rahman

Bangla language and literature will take a glorious place in the world court and shed new light on the world in the near future, said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He expressed this optimism in his speech as the chief guest after presenting the country's highest state honor, Ekushey Padak 2026, to eminent personalities of the country at a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital at 11 am on Thursday.
In her speech, the Prime Minister emphasized on further developing the trend of knowledge, science, art and literature. She said that the government will provide all kinds of cooperation to implement this goal and necessary steps will be taken to highlight the contributions of the personalities before the nation.
Recalling the historical context of the Ekushey Padak, she mentioned that martyr President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of independence, introduced this medal for the first time in independent Bangladesh. She said that this award is an important means of keeping the glorious history of the country alive for the new generation, starting from the Language Movement of 1952.
Highlighting the importance of the month of February in national life, the Prime Minister said that Ekushey February is a memorial of our identity and the lifeblood of cultural consciousness. She prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the language martyrs and urged the young generation to be more involved in education, research and creative activities.
