No One Can Interfere with Police Work: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has stated that no individual or organization will be allowed to unlawfully interfere with the work of the police. He made the remarks on Monday (February 23) after a meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Secretariat.
The minister emphasized, “If anyone tries to obstruct or interfere with the lawful duties of the police—whether for political or social reasons—immediate action will be taken. At the same time, police operations will be monitored to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience.”
In response to a question, he said, “We often say that the police are the friends of the people. But in reality, we have started working to establish that trust. During the previous fascist government, political interference severely affected the police and other institutions. However, society cannot function without law enforcement. That is why we aim to reform the police, and such reform is only possible by boosting their morale.”
Salahuddin Ahmed further explained, “During the fascist period, not only the police but almost every institution was damaged. We now have to rebuild the country from that rubble. In the post-uprising period, public expectations are high, and our work must align with those expectations. We are providing that motivation and guidance within the police force.”
The Home Minister added that he will personally visit various departments to speak with officials, boost their confidence, and provide clear directions for moving forward. He stressed, “We will not look back; our focus is forward, advancing the country with determination.”
