Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Vice President (VP) Sadiq Kayem has announced a movement demanding the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor, Legal Advisor and Foreign Affairs Advisor if his three demands are not met within the next 48 hours.
He told reporters after a meeting with Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the Home Ministry on Monday (December 15) afternoon.
Sadiq Kayem said that if the demands are not implemented immediately and if they fail to ensure visible improvement in the law and order situation, the three advisors concerned will have to resign.
While addressing the journalists, the Home Affairs Advisor was also seen standing next to Sadiq Kayem. Eyewitnesses also said that he was a bit embarrassed at the time.
At that time, Sadiq Kayem read out the three demands. In his first demand, he said that all the terrorists who directly attacked, planned and assisted in the shooting incident on Inqilab Manch convener Sharif Osman Hadi must be arrested immediately. At the same time, all the relevant organs of the state, including the intelligence agencies, must be held accountable and those whose negligence is proven must be brought to justice. He also demanded a complete social boycott of the so-called 'cultural fascists' who supported this attack and presented the July revolutionaries as worthy of killing.
In his second demand, the DUCSU VP said that an area-based combing operation must be started against the banned Awami League within the next 48 hours. All terrorists from different levels of the organization must be arrested and illegal weapons recovered nationwide. He also warned that the government's negligence in this regard will not be tolerated anymore.
In the third demand, Sadiq Kayem said that as a first and essential step against Indian hegemony, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be brought back to the country and the verdict given against her for crimes against humanity should be implemented. At the same time, he demanded a review of diplomatic relations with India in protest against the sheltering of genocidal terrorists. He also mentioned that diplomatic relations with India cannot be normalized until the accused are returned.
