Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus extended floral greetings to BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia on her 81st birthday. On Friday afternoon, the bouquet of flowers sent by the Chief Advisor was delivered to the BNP Chairperson's residence Firoza in Gulshan by her Private Secretary Sajeeb M Khairul Islam and Director of the Chief Advisor's Office Mohammad Nazmul Islam. The matter was confirmed by the BNP Media Cell.
The bouquet was received by the BNP Chairperson's Private Secretary and former Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar. BNP Central Committee Member Belayet Hossain, Media Cell Member Shairul Kabir Khan and Chairperson's Office Officer Masud Rahman were present at the time. The Chairperson's Private Secretary thanked the Chief Advisor for the greetings.
Meanwhile, BNP and its affiliated organizations organized prayer mahfils, milads and discussion meetings in Naya Paltan and Gulshan on the occasion of Khaleda Zia's birthday. At these events, members of the party's standing committee and senior leaders highlighted Khaleda Zia's political role, her uncompromising struggle for democracy and the torture of her prison life.
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas said, "Khaleda Zia has led the party with strong morale during the party's difficult times. Her leadership on the issue of democracy and love for leaders and workers are unmatched."
Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that delaying the interim government in the name of reforms could have dire consequences. On the other hand, BNP advisor Zainul Abdin Faruk warned that if the party fails to hold elections, the name of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will be written in history with shame.
BNP standing committee members and leaders and workers from different levels were present at the prayer mahfil held at the Gulshan office. It prayed for Khaleda Zia's recovery and long life. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was virtually involved in the program.
