BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that government people are conspiring against the country by taking refuge in a neighboring country. He made this allegation at a student gathering organized by Chhatra Dal at Shahbagh in the capital on Sunday (August 3) afternoon. He said, “Fascist Hasina has taken refuge in our neighboring country with her people. They are conspiring within the country by sitting there. They have to confront those conspiracies.”
Mirza Fakhrul said that the biggest fight now is to establish a democratic state. We are moving towards that goal. He further claimed that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has set the date of the next national election in February after discussing with the interim government’s chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in London. “The people of the entire country are waiting to see when Tarique Rahman will return to the country,” said Fakhrul.
He said, “Not just 36 days; for the past 15 years, students and the public have given their lives for democracy. The goal of their sacrifice was to build a beautiful Bangladesh.”
At the beginning of this Chhatra Dal rally, the Holy Quran was recited and a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of July. The program officially began with the singing of the national anthem in unison. Chhatra Dal Organizing Secretary Aman Ullah Aman delivered the welcome speech. Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir remembered the leaders and activists who were martyred in the organization’s movement.
Mirza Fakhrul arrived at the rally venue around 3 pm. Earlier, BNP senior leaders Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel and former central leaders of Chhatra Dal were on the stage. About an hour before the rally began, Shahbagh intersection and the surrounding area were filled with a large number of Chhatra Dal activists and supporters. As per the central decision, leaders and activists from various units and district branches participated in this year's rally without banners, festoons, and placards.
