Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce President Anwarul Alam Chowdhury Parvez said that the current interim government has not been able to ensure safety security for businessmen. He warned that if this situation continues, new factories will not be established in the country.
He made these comments during a discussion titled ‘Policy Considerations for Affordability and Impact on Industrial Competitiveness’ at a seminar jointly organized by ERF and Policy Exchange on Sunday.
He said, “I will tell the government, if you do not take adequate safety security measures to keep the existing factories running, then why will new factories be established?” He added, “We also have to think about whether to run the factories or not.”
Meanwhile, industry experts fear that the ongoing crisis over the safety and security of business people could further weaken the country's position in industrial development and international competition.
