Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the current government is not making any concessions in realizing rights. He said that the previous government was flexible on some issues with India. However, some minor problems have arisen due to the strict stance of the current government.
He said these things at the closing ceremony of the 137th Survey and Settlement Training Course for BCS cadre officials of administration, police, forest and railways and Bangladesh Judicial Service on Sunday.
He also said that the government is on the highest alert in border security. Regarding the dispute over cutting of paddy and trees on the Chapainawabganj border, he said that the matter will be resolved through bilateral discussions. No intrusion of any kind will be tolerated on the border.
Citing corruption as the main problem of Bangladesh, he said that the current government has a zero tolerance policy against corruption. He also called for the timely enactment of a land protection law, saying that if agricultural land is not protected, food security will be threatened in the future.
Regarding the civil service, he said that in many cases, there is a reluctance to serve due to the lack of fear of losing jobs. If discipline is maintained, it is possible to stop political scheming.
Finally, he warned that if someone tries to take illegal advantage by using his identity, the law enforcement agencies will take strict action. At the same time, he called for the publication of accurate information about corruption.
