RAB-8 has arrested Union Chhatra Dal president Alamin Talukdar, the main accused in the case of beating to death a Chhatra League activist without receiving subscription. He was arrested in a raid at Chikandi Bazar in Shariatpur on Saturday (September 8) evening. This information has been confirmed from the headquarters of RAB-8.
Arrested Al Amin Talukder is the son of deceased Azizul Haque Talukder, President of Barthi Union Chhatra Dal of Gournadi Upazila of Barisal.
Russell Shikder, elder brother of the deceased said, Rashed used to look after my business in Dhaka. On August 16, he came home with his two-year-old son Rafsan. After Friday prayers, he goes to Barthi market to buy fruits for his son. There he was detained by the Chhatra Dal people and demanded money. Otherwise he threatened that he would not be allowed to stay in the area. When Rashed said that he would not pay the contribution, 10/15 people including Saimun, Hamim Talukdar led by President of Barthi Union Chhatra Dal, Al Amin, severely beat him up. He was first taken to Upazila Hospital and from there to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. When asked to take Dhaka from there, my brother died on the way to take Dhaka. Chhatra Dal workers ransacked the shop of Kamrul in the market to avoid beatings.
According to RAB, the day after the incident, the deceased's elder brother filed a case as plaintiff. After the case, the accused were hiding in different areas. RAB shadow investigation came to know that the main accused Al Amin is hiding in Chikandi Bazar of Shariatpur. He was arrested on Saturday night.
Anwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gournadi Police Station, said that four people have been charged in Rashed's murder case. RAB arrested one person and handed him over to the police station. The arrested Alamin confessed everything. The court sent him to jail. The operation to arrest the other accused is continuing.
