Donation of USD 100,000 to flood victims

The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC), has donated one hundred thousand US dollars to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) in support of the flood victims.

On Monday (August 26) morning at the national headquarters of the society, Yao Wen, the Chinese ambassador appointed in Dhaka, the chairman of BDRCS, Professor Dr. MU handed over the donation check to Kabir Chowdhury.

Expressing his gratitude to China Red Cross and Embassy, ​​Kabir Chowdhury said, breaking all past records, south-eastern region of Bangladesh is affected by sudden floods today. Millions of people in flood-affected areas are living inhumane lives. Red Crescent volunteer team has been helping the affected people by providing field rescue, mobile medical services and distribution of dry food, cooked food, clean drinking water. This donation from the China Red Cross Society will support relief and recovery activities in the affected areas of the country.

Ambassador Yao Wen expressed his deepest condolences to the flood victims and their families, the injured and the victims, and said, 'We are shocked to see the massive loss of life and property damage in the terrible floods in Bangladesh. China Embassy and China Red Cross have been with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society in the past and this cooperative relationship will continue in the future. He also expressed optimism that Bangladesh will be able to overcome this disaster quickly.

After Adviser Nahid's call for unity to resist foreign forces, representatives of the embassy visited the preparations for the ongoing relief distribution of the Red Crescent. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Vice Chairman Lutfur Rahman Chowdhury Helal, Secretary General Kazi Shafiqul Azam, Third Secretary of China Embassy in Dhaka Zhu Yong, Cultural Councilor Li Shaopeng, Director of Youth Volunteer Department of the Society Imam Zafar Sikdar, Director of Disaster Response Department were also present at this time.
