The court has ordered the submission of a report by October 21 in the case of abduction with intent to murder Anwarul Azim Anar, former Member of Parliament (MP) of Bangladesh's Jhenaidah-4 Constituency in Kolkata, India.
Sunday (September 15) was scheduled to submit the investigation report of the case. However, on this day, the investigating agency Metropolitan Detective (DB) agency did not submit the report. For this reason, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque set a new date for submitting the report.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Jalal Uddin, officer of the general registration wing of Sherebangla Nagar police station, confirmed this information in the court.
Earlier on May 22, MP Anar's daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen filed a case of abduction with intent to murder at the capital's Sherebangla Nagar police station.
Muntarin Ferdous Dorin mentioned in the case complaint, we live as a family in Manik Mia Avenue house. On May 9 around 8 pm, my father Anwarul Azim left for Anna's village, Jhenaidah. On May 11, around 5:15 pm, when I spoke to my father on a video call, my father's speech seemed a little incoherent. After that, I called my father's mobile number several times but it was disconnected.
On May 13, a small message arrived on Wazir's uncle's WhatsApp from his father's Indian number. It read, 'I am going to Delhi suddenly, I have VIPs with me. I am going to Newtown for Amit Shah's work. I don't need to call. I'll call you later.' A few other messages also came. The text messages may have been sent by the kidnappers using my father's mobile phone.
He also mentioned that I kept looking for my father in different places. Finding no trace, his friend Gopal Biswas filed a general diary at the Indian Baranagar police station as a plaintiff. Yet we continue to search. Later, I came to know through various media and social media that unknown persons had kidnapped the father in a pre-planned and coordinated manner.
In this case, 6 of the seven accused arrested in Bangladesh have given a confessional statement in the court. They are Shimul Bhuiyan alias Shihab alias Fazal Mohammad Bhuiyan alias Amanullah Saeed, Tanveer Bhuiyan, Shilasti Rahman, Kazi Kamal Ahmed Babu, Mostafizur Rahman Fakir and Faisal Ali Shaji. They are currently in jail. On the other hand, Jhenaidah District Awami League General Secretary Saidul Karim Mintu has been sent to prison after remand for not accepting responsibility in this case.
