Violence has risen again in India's northeastern state of Manipur. In this situation, an indefinite curfew has been issued in three districts of the state. Although earlier there was an announcement of relaxation of curfew.

But later the relaxation order was canceled and curfew was again imposed until further notice. In separate reports on Tuesday (September 10), Indian media outlets India Today NE, Indian Express and LiveMint reported this information.

According to a report in India Today, curfew has been imposed in Imphal East and Imphal West districts of Manipur due to prevailing law and order situation. The order was passed under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023.

On the other hand, Live Mint says, amid fresh violence in Manipur, a total curfew has been announced in Imphal West, Imphal East and Thoubal districts of Manipur from 11 am today.

The restraining order places restrictions on residents' movement outside their residences until further notice. The order was issued on September 1 but later on September 10 the curfew was relaxed from 5 am to 10 pm.

However, this relaxation has now been withdrawn from 11 am on September 10. "Now, in view of all previous orders issued in this regard, the curfew relaxation period on September 10 (Tuesday) is withdrawn from 11 am," the order said. Curfew is now in full force till further orders.

Persons involved in essential services like health, electricity, PHED, press and electronic media and courts will remain exempt from curfew. Besides, municipal officials, electricity workers, petrol pump workers, flight passengers and media workers have also been allowed to move despite the ongoing ban.

According to Live Mint, the curfew was ordered in two districts of Imphal as students planned a massive protest demanding the removal of the state government's DGP and security adviser. The students are planning this protest alleging failure to deal with the law and order situation in the state.

Similarly, curfew has been imposed in Thoubal after the student protest on Monday turned violent. It was originally alleged that a police officer was shot during the protest on Monday.

Apart from this, the director of school education of Manipur has ordered to close all schools in the state on September 9 and 10 on Monday amid increasing violence and unrest.
