Miles and Artcell on the same stage in Sydney

Saturday night in Sydney, Australia, became a memorable festival for expatriate Bengalis. The symbols of two generations of Bangladeshi band music—Miles and Artcell—performed on the same stage for the first time at the Whitlam Laser Center in Liverpool, Sydney.
For several weeks, there was excitement, anticipation and nostalgia among expatriate Bangladeshis surrounding this ‘music fest’ organized by ‘Greenfield Entertainment’.
On Saturday evening, a long line of spectators could be seen outside the venue. Some were holding Bangladeshi flags, some were holding posters of the band. Inside, the sound of soundchecks was coming from outside, and outside, young and old spectators were shaking with excitement.
Hamin Ahmed, a member of the band Miles, said,
“Sydney has always been special to us. We were probably the first Bangladeshi band to perform in Australia in 1996. Since then, we have been here for at least the fifth time. The love from the audience here has always been incredible.”
He added, “We knew it was going to be a memorable event. We wanted everyone to sing along, to scream together—and the audience did just that.”
Guitarist Tujo said, “We are touring five cities in Australia, but the atmosphere in Sydney is completely different. The audience made our night memorable.”
When Miles took to the stage and performed timeless songs like ‘Chand Tara Surya’, ‘Neela’, ‘Dhiki Dhiki’ and ‘Firiyedao’, the entire hall was swept away in nostalgia. The lines of their favorite songs echoed with the voices of the audience.
Then came Artcell, a band representing the post-90s generation.
They performed several popular songs including ‘Dhusar Soiyo’, ‘Dukhabilas’, and ‘Pathchala’. The young audience was enthralled by their energetic guitar riffs and rock sound.
Lakembar resident Mohammad Irfan Khan said,
“Miles was our childhood companion. But it was a new experience to have Artcell on the same stage. This night will not be forgotten.”
Faisal Azad, spokesperson for the organizer, ‘Greenfield Entertainment,’ said,
“It was our dream to bring two top bands from two generations on the same stage. Bengalis in Sydney have wanted something like this for a long time. This event will be a milestone in the concert history here.”
This ‘Music Fest’, which lasted until 11:30 pm, was not just a concert, it was a bridge between two eras of Bangladeshi band music.
Organizer Enamul Haque said, “Miles and Artcell on the same stage—this was a moment of history. The love of the audience is the success of this event.”
At the event, Miles performed several songs in memory of their late member Shafin Ahmed, which filled the hearts of the audience with emotion.
The meeting of Miles and Artcell on the same stage on that spring evening in Sydney became an unforgettable night full of tunes and memories for the expatriate Bengalis.
