So far, 20 people have died and 171 have been injured in the terrible plane crash in the capital's Uttara. Most of the dead and injured are said to be children and students of Milestone School. Immediately after this tragic incident, a mysterious Facebook post went viral on social media, which has sparked a new discussion. On July 20 (Sunday), a post was posted on a verified Facebook page called 'Anonymous Main Page', which read, "A school building is about to collapse, resulting in the loss of many children's lives. We see a terrible disaster coming." The post also said, "The main cause of this disaster will be the lack of maintenance due to negligence of the building. I am giving this message as an architect."
The next day, on July 21 (Monday), another post was posted from the same page after the terrible plane crash. It shared a video of the accident and wrote, “We always send warnings in advance. But unfortunately they are not taken seriously. This is very shameful.” The post also claimed, “Currently, one disaster after another is happening. So listen to our messages carefully and find remedies in advance—otherwise you will be responsible for the damage.”
The About section of the ‘Anonymous Main Page’ shows that the page is operated from the United States and Nigeria. They keep their identities secret and publish ‘warnings’ about future disasters from time to time. However, questions remain about the authenticity of these messages.
Meanwhile, cybersecurity analyst Abdullah Al Jabir expressed his opinion on the viral post. He said, “‘Anonymous Main Page’ is a fake and fraudulent page. Their strategy is to mislead the general public by giving advance messages about building maintenance errors and later linking them to plane crashes.” He added, “Their main objective is to spread rumors and create panic and also increase followers on their pages. They have no social responsibility beyond that.”
Cyber security analysts said they have already identified the IP location of this group. Initially, it was learned that the entire group mainly operates these fake pages from Africa.
He urged the countrymen to be wary of these misleading Facebook pages and posts and not to share any information without verifying it.
